Bread pudding ride to Ripley

With Grey overcast skies, & just a few drips & drops of rain, after 2 cancellations, 19 Cyclists split into 2 groups, then via Surbiton, Long Ditton, Hinchley wood, Esher, Fairmile- with group 1 having a visit from the ‘P fairy, thus group 2 took the lead-, Cobham, Hatchford, Ockham, to Ripley for lunch at the Jovial Sailor (Barons pubs), now with Blue skies & some Sun, still with group 2 in front, via Send Marsh, Newark- taking advantage of the ‘closed Road’-, (Photo, group 1), Pyrford, a brief visit to the Wey navigation, Byfleet village, Brooklands Park (Photo group 2), -somehow Group 1 managed to grab the lead back 🙄-, Weybridge, Walton, Molesey, to Molesey Cricket club for Tea & refreshments at Miss Polly’s, East Molesey, Thames Ditton, Portsmouth Rd to finish back in Kingston. Total 33 Miles, 1 special guest, having last joined us over 10 years ago! Special thanks to Celia for leading group 2, thanks to Chris F & Andrea C for back marking each group. Sunday 23rd August. a largely bright Sunny day saw 20, -it would have been 22 but for two late cancelations with 1 extra who did make it, almost being left off the list due to an admin error-, so 21 Cyclists manage to find 4 Leaders, leaving at 5 Minute intervals, via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Hampton, Sunbury, Halliford, Shepperton, Chertsey Bridge, Chertsey Meads (Photo group 2), Addlestone, Row Town, New Haw, West Byfleet, to Brooklands Community Park & the vastly improved Cycle path for our Picnic lunch near the River Wey (Photo group 1 & group 4), continuing on the new Tarmac path, Weybridge, Walton-on-Thames, West Molesey, to Molesey Boat club for Tea & Bread pudding at ‘Eight on the River’, Cafe, with group 4 taking the nearby Molesey Lock Cafe option, Thames Ditton, Portsmouth Rd track to Kingston. Total 29 Miles, very special thanks to Bai, Steve D & Mags for group leading, thanks to Andrea, John E, Mike F & Will for Back marking duties, thanks to John D for the BP

Sunday 23rd February. A rather breezy day, with a strong headwind at times, saw 22 Cyclists leave via Portsmouth Rd, Thames Ditton, Giggshill Green, -mixing with the ‘Hampton Court half marathon, then finding our path blocked by a Scaffold lorry, then more Half marathoners,- Weston Green, Esher, Walton on Thames, Weybridge, Brooklands Museum, (Photo), Brooklands Park, Byfleet, New Haw, Rowtown, to Addlestone for lunch at ‘the Pelican’, then Chertsey Meads, Chertsey Bridge, Shepperton, Halliford, to Sunbury for Tea & Bread pudding at the walled Garden, all about to restart only to find the ‘P fairy’ has paid a visit, quickly fixed, Hampton, Bushy Park, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge. Total 28 Miles, thanks to Will & Mike for Back marking, & others for marking corners.

Tuesday 18th June, a Cloudy morning, followed by Drizzley Showers, before steady Rain set in after lunch, saw 6 Cyclists, leave via Portsmouth Rd track, Giggshill Green, Weston Green, Esher, Hersham, -where 2 more joined us, (due to the SW  Rail strike making Trains unreliable), -Burwood park, Weybridge, Brooklands community Park, (Photo), Byfleet, Wey navigation Towpath, Pyrford, (with a Bridleway, having too many Nettles for comfort), Old Woking, to Send for lunch at ‘the New Inn’, then Send Marsh, Grove heath, Ockham, Hatchford, Cobham, Portsmouth Rd to Claremont Lake for Tea & refreshments at the NT Cafe,- although 1 person misread the Signal, & carried on, perhaps to avoid getting too damp,- Esher, Hinchley wood, Long Ditton, Surbiton, to Kingston. Total 34 Miles, 1 new face, thanks to Mike for back marking, & others for marking corners.

Sunday 22nd October, A mostly bright day, with a strong (at times very strong) Headwind, saw 27 Cyclists leave via the Portsmouth Rd Track, Thames Ditton, Hinchley Wood, Esher, Fairmile, Cobham, Hatchford, Ockham, to Send Marsh for lunch at the ‘Saddlers arms’, then Newark, Pyrford, West Byfleet, Byfleet, Brooklands Community Park, Weybridge, Burwood Park, to Hersham Garden centre, for Tea & BP, then Hersham, Walton, Esher, Weston Green, Giggshill Green, Portsmouth Rd to Kingston. Total 32 Miles, 7 new faces, thanks to Jon & Mike for back marking & many others for corner marking.
