Bread pudding ride to Harmondsworth

Sunday 11th June. A bright Sunny morning, saw a total of 27 Cyclists split into 2 groups, leave via Kingston Bridge, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Strawberry hill, River Crane path, pausing at the Shot Tower to explain its purpose, Whitton, Hounslow Heath (Photo Group 1), West Hounslow, Cranford, Harlington, Sipson, to Harmondsworth for lunch at the Crown, (with a few electing to visit the Five Bells to spread the load), (Photo group 2), then a visit to the ‘Great Barn’,- with 1 more who missed the start, joining group 1-, resuming the ride, Harmondsworth Moor, Poyle, Stanwell moor, Stanwell, Ashford- with 1 person in group 1 suffering ‘Seized Brakes’, forced to abandon the ride, with a 2nd person becoming dehydrated, also abandoning the ride, & 2 others staying with that victim until help arrived-, Sunbury, Feltham, Hanworth, -now with dark clouds, light Rain, but very large rain Drops & rumbles of Thunder-, Hampton, Bushy Park for Tea & Bread pudding at the Pheasantry, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge to finish back in Kingston. Total 28 Miles, 5 new faces Special thanks to Bai for leading group 2, thanks to John E & Toni Z for back marking each group, thanks to John D for the BP.

Update Re Dot: After a refreshing Drink of Fanta, much refreshed & safely home.

Update from Paula: the shop have confirmed the Brake fluid level had dropped, it can mean in very hot conditions, the remaining fluid gets too hot, causing the Brakes to lock on.

A surprisingly Sunny Morning, with more Cloud later, after 2 late cancellations, 1 no show & with 1 surprise guest saw 20 Cyclists in 2 groups leave via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Fulwell, River Crane path, Whitton, Hounslow Heath, West Hounslow, Cranford, Harlington, Sipson to Harmondsworth for lunch at the ‘Crown’ with a few electing for the ‘Five Bells’, also stopping to admire the ‘Great Barn‘, (Photo group 2),

Osterley park, Tea stop

Sunday 26th May, a largly Cloudy day, with a few spots of moisture, saw 29 Cyclists leave via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Hampton, Hanworth, Feltham, Bedfont, Stanwell, Stanwellmoor, Poyle, Harmondsworth Moor to Harmondsworth for lunch split between ‘the Crown’, & ‘Five Bells’, afterwards, a visit to the fantastic ‘Great Barn, with 1 or 2 people missing out on the ‘Culture’, due to a misunderstanding, and repairing a ‘P’, then West Drayton, the Grand union Canal Towpath, -with the surface improved in place’s, but other parts still in need of some ‘TLC’-, Norwood Green, Osterley Park for Tea & Bread pudding, and Photo, Osterley, ‘the tail’, -briefly taking a wrong turn-, Hounslow, Whitton, Twickenham, Teddington, with the 2nd visit from the ‘P fairy’, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge. Total 30 Miles, thanks to John E for Back marking, & many others for marking corners, thanks to John D for the BP. 2 visit from the ‘p fairy’.

Sunday 22nd April. A bright Sunny morning, with increasing Cloud in the Afternoon, saw 20 Cyclists leave via Kingston Bridge, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Fulwell, River Crane path, Whitton, Hounslow heath, West Hounslow, Cranford, Harlington, Sipson to Harmonsworth – with the first choice Pub, the Five Bells having no food – The Crown more than filled the gap with very generous portions & very good service, then a short detour to visit the great Barn, (also known as the Cathedral of Middlesex), -with some of the group electing for an extra Tea stop-, then Harmondsworth Moor, Poyle, Stanwellmoor, Ashford,- including a new Cycle path along Town Lane-, Feltham, Hanworth, Hampton Hill to Bushy Park for Tea & BP at the ‘Pheasantry’, Hampton Wick & Kingston Bridge. Total 30 Miles, thanks to Bob for Back marking & Many others for marking corners, special thanks to Derek for the Bread pudding.
