With a Cloudy but otherwise pleasant day, and after a few late cancellations, 15 Cyclists, in 1 group left via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Teddington, Teddington Lock, Ham gate Richmond Park, Roehampton gate, Barnes Common, Putney- with a slipped Chain causing a minor delay-,, Putney Bridge, Bishops Park, Fulham, Thames Towpath to Hammersmith for lunch at the ‘Plough & Harrow’ (Wetherspoons), then Ravenscourt Park, Acton, Gunnersbury Park (Photo), Brentford, to Syon Park for refreshments, Isleworth, Whitton, Twickenham, Strawberry hill, Teddington, a very congested Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge, to finish back in the Market place. Sunday 12th December, a bright start, with some light drizzle during & just after lunch, saw 29 Cyclists, split into 3 groups, leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, Tolworth & Greenway, West Ewell, Stoneleigh, Worcester park, Old Malden, to New Malden, joined by 2 non Cyclists & 2 more who had missed the Train to Kingston for the start, for a superb lunch at Woodies, after thankyou speech for the Pub & others our leader announced, that he couldn’t split the final Two for Support rider of the year, So Carl & Bai both got some treats, thanks also to John & Christine for all the Bread puddings this year, Bai replied with thanks to me as ride leader & organiser, with 1 of group 2 having a visit from the ‘P fairy’, then back on the Bikes with some very ‘full bellies’, Motspur park, Lower Morden, Morden Park (Photo group 1), Morden, Ravensbury Park- group 1 suffering a visit from the ‘P fairy’-, soon overtaken by group 2 plus, to Morden Hall Park, just in time for Tea & Bread pudding, another presentation from John, for the best attendance this yeaar, to John Ede, just about daylight as we departed via, Merton park, Wimbledon Chase, Raynes park, New Malden, Norbiton, to finish back in Kingston. Sunday 14th November Part 1. A mostly overcast day, with 1 small period of very light misty drizzle, after 4 late cancellations, saw 18 Cyclists, in 2 groups leave via Skerne Rd, Aerospace Estate, Ham, Ham gate, to Petersham Gate, -time to reflect on Remembrance Sunday for 2 minutes, group 2 also listened to Andrea read a verse from ‘For the Fallen’,by Laurence Binyon, ‘They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old. Richmond, Richmond Bridge, St Margarets, Isleworth, Whitton, Kneller Gardens (Group 1 Photo), to Twickenham for a (too) early lunch at the ‘Prince Blucher’, -with hastily printed Menu’s that had the wrong price’s for most meals-, Strawberry hill, Teddington, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge, to finish. A mostly Cloudy morning, with some Afternoon Sun saw 11 Cyclists gather at Clapham Junction, for the Train to Hurst Green collecting 2 more en route, so a Bakers Dozen (13) Cyclists in 1 group with a surprising turn, Bai took the lead, via Merle Common, Crowhurst with a brief chat on the Yew tree (Photo), Blindley Heath, Horne, Smallfield, to Horley for lunch at the very homely ‘Farmhouse Pub’, then a poorly surfaced stretch of NCN 21, Whitebushes, Woodhatch, Flanchford, to Brockham for Tea & Bread pudding at the Church hall, Coach Rd, Pixham, A24 track, Leatherhead, to finish at the Station. A warm Sunny Afternoon, saw 9 Cyclists leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, Tolworth & the Greenway, Kingston Rd Track, West Ewell, St Ebba’s path, Long grove Park, Manor park, to the Old Moat Garden centre Cafe for Tea & Refreshments, then Horton Country Park, Chessington, Tolworth, Surbiton to finish back at the Market place. Wednesday 15th September, A mostly overcast morning, with a brighter afternoon, after 1 cancellation, saw 12 Cyclists leave via Skerne Rd, Latchmere, Ham gate Richmond Park, White Lodge, Roehampton gate, Barnes Common, Putney, Putney Bridge- with 1 extra ready to join us, now a Bakers Dozen-, Parsons Green, Eel Brook Common, Brompton Cemetery, Kensington, Hyde Park, Marylebone, to Maida Vale for lunch at the newly rebuilt & very hospitable Carlton Tavern, –quite a story-, Kilburn, North Kensington, Shepherds bush, Hammersmith, Hammersmith Bridge, Barnes, – with a very long wait for a Train to appear on Line 1 at the dual Level crossing -, East Sheen to Palewell Common Cafe, for Tea & refreshments, with some home made Cookies, Sheen gate, Richmond Park, Kingston gate, the Station Bridge to finish back at the Market place. A warm Sultry evening saw 10 Cyclists, in 1 group leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, New Malden, Motspur park- with an inordinantly long wait at the Level crossing-, Cannon Hill, South Wimbledon to Wimbledon for refreshments at the Wibbas Down Inn (Wetherspoons), with Rain & Thunder forecast 1 member made an early departure, 2 others also headed in other directions, the main group, with steady rain soon turning to light Drizzle, continued via Wimbledon Chase, Raynes park, New Malden, Norbiton to finish back in Kingston. Sunday 8th August. A Drizzly Morning, with 1 or 2 heavier showers & A drier Afternoon, until just before Tea, with 2 cancellations & 2 no shows, saw 17 Cyclists, gather at the Fountain Roundabout, split into 3 groups, -alas, group 3 had navigational issues, so group 2 agreed to wait, then continue as a ‘Super group’-, leave via Motspur park, North Cheam, West Sutton, Carshalton Beeches, Oaks Park, with 2 more Cyclists joining group 2, Woodmansterne, Coulsdon, Farthing Down, Chaldon, Brewer Street, Bletchingley, to Godstone, – but what’s this, no Pub, a Farm ? But wait, ahh, now I see, we have a Brewery attached, with possibly the biggest Pub Garden anywhere, the Flower Farm also has a superb Farm shop, if only I’d brought the Trailer , then the delightful Woldingham Valley (Photo group 1) Manor Park, Whyteleafe, Kenley, South Croydon, Duppas Hill, Beddington, – with a sudden heavy Shower -, to Beddington Park for Tea & Bread pudding, Hackbridge, the Wrythe, Benhill, Sutton, North Cheam, Motspur park, to finish back in New Malden. A mostly Sunny Evening, with 2 late cancellations, saw 10 Cyclists in 1 group leave via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Fulwell, Twickenham, St Margerets, Richmond Bridge, to Richmond Hill for refreshments at ‘the Roebuck’, also meeting up with the ‘unofficial Merton group’, the big question, would we get to enjoy a Sunset ? not quite, but pretty good all the same, (Clouds appearing just after the Photo) then with a slight delay for a minor Mechanical problem, via Richmond Park, Kingston, the new Station Bridge to finish. Sunday 20th June. A Cloudy, but otherwise pleasant day after 2 late Cancellations, & 1 abandon before the start, due to a visit from the ‘P Fairy’, so 15 Cyclists split into 2 groups, leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, Tolworth & Greenway, West Ewell collecting 1 extra Cyclist, Long Grove Park, Epsom Common, pausing briefly at a Coal tax Post, also a short chat about Ashtead Common & why it’s owned by the City of London, Leatherhead, Fetcham, to Bookham, -not Pub in Little Bookham as originally planned, it turns out someone should have done a bit more research-, as the ‘Old Crown’ isn’t doing food at the moment, but does have very helpful, friendly staff & 2 Pet Rabbits, so we elected to stay, whilst some had come prepared, others found the local Co-op for grub, then with darkening Skies, Effingham, Martyr’s Green, Hatchford, Downside (Photo 1), Cobham, Fairmile, to Claremont Lake Cafe for Tea & Bread pudding, Esher, Hinchley wood, Long Ditton, Surbiton (Photo 2) to finish back in Kingston. Part 2, A slightly brighter Afternoon, with late Sun, saying farewell to 7, but hello to 7 fresh faces, this time split into 2 groups of 9, after an admin mix-up, leave via Skerne Rd & Path, Thames towpath, Aerospace estate, Ham lands, Teddington Footbridge, Teddington, Bushy Park, Hampton Court Bridge, -with a small detatchment of group 2, extra thirsty, taking a short cut-, Molesey, to Molesey Lock Cafe, with a ‘sedate service’, for Tea & Bread pudding, Thames Ditton, Giggshill Green, Portsmouth Rd & Cycle track to Kingston. Sunday 23rd May. A Blustery day, with a few short but heavy Showers saw 15 Cyclist after 1 late cancellation, split into 1 Group of 8, 1 of 7, leave via Portsmouth Rd Track, Surbiton, Long Ditton, Hinchley wood, Esher, Fairmile, Cobham, Hatchford, Ockham, to Ripley for an early lunch at the ‘Jovial Sailor’, with a fantastic canopy covering most of the Garden, -very handy, because a short Deluge from above, & somehow Group 2 got fed first, so they could leave first-, Send Marsh, passing the remains of Newark Priory, Pyrford, West Byfleet, Byfleet (where another Deluge for gropup 2, let group 1 almost catch the tail, thus time for a group 1 Photo), Weybridge, Broadwater path, with a Fallen Tree, anyone got a Chainsaw ?, can’t go around it, can’t get under, we’ll have to lift our Bikes over the obstruction, now ‘Groupo Compacto’ as the Giro de Italia riders might say, to Walton Bridge for Tea & Bread pudding at ‘Wilde Bunch’, Walton on Thames, Molesey, Thames Ditton – with Group 1 Leader not watching the tail, so initially unaware that 1 person had suffered a mechanical, leading to an alternaive route home- (a reminder to keep an eye on the back marker, even if we are almost back to the finish), Portsmouth Rd & track to Kingston. Wednesday 19th May after a few Showers, a largely Bright evening saw 8 Cyclists, with 2 late cancellations, leave via Cranes park, Tolworth -including a short stretch of the new Cycle Path-, Old Malden, Motspur park, Raynes park, to New Malden for Refreshments at Woodies,- with a visit from a ‘Special guest’,- then Norbiton, Kingston & the new Bridge next to Kingston Station, to finish back at the Market place. Total 12 Miles, 1 face returning after a very long interval, thanks to Mike for Back marking.

Wednesday 12th May, A largely Sunny day, with a few light Showers, saw 15 Cyclists, with 1 cancellation, split into 3 groups of 5 leave via Portsmouth Rd Track, Thames Ditton, Molesey, Walton on Thames, Weybridge, Brooklands Park, Byfleet, New Haw to Addlestone for lunch at the Pelican, a lovely Pub next to the Wey Navigation, Chertsey Meads, Chertsey Bridge, Shepperton, Sunbury, Hampton, Bushy Park for Tea & refreshments, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge. Total 30 Miles 2 new faces, special thanks to Mags & Mike F for group leading, thanks to Dave P, John E & Steve F for back marking each group. Sunday 9th May, a very pleasant sunny day, much warmer than of late, saw 23 Cyclists, with 1 cancellation, split into 4 groups, but all groups seemed to play a version of Musical chairs at various stages of the day, (group 2 not being quite ready, so they were demoted to group 4). Leaving the Market place via Fairfield, Norbiton, New Malden, Raynes park, South Wimbledon, Wandle path, Earlsfield, with Group 3 suffering a visit from the ‘P Fairy’ meaning Group 4, now became group 2 ?, Wandsworth Common, Clapham Common, Vauxhall, Camberwell to Burgess Park for a Picnic lunch, pausing earlier at the Lime Kiln, the Camberwell Beauty Mosaic & also ‘Silent Raid’, an Art installation in memory of a Zeppelin raid from WW1, continuing via the Surrey Canal Path, Peckham, Dulwich, Brockwell Park, where an unfortunate coming together between 2 members of group 3, with 1 Bike unridable, & a slight Shoulder injury, meaning a Taxi ride home was the best option, thanks to members of Group 2/ 4, (if you’re keeping up), for there assistance, meanwhile ahead, due to an impromptu Loo stop, group 4/2 had briefly taken the lead, which was a surprise for group 1, Tulse Hill, Streatham Hill, Tooting Bec Common for a Tea & Bread pudding stop, Tooting, Mitcham, Morden Hall Park, Morden, Morden Park, Lower Morden, Motspur park, New Malden, Berrylands, to finish back at Kingston. Thursday 29th April. Well there’s a thing, KCC having a Midweek evening ride on a Thursday, but as Pubs are still adjusting their opening & closing times, it seemed the best idea this month. A Bright, if slightly chilly evening saw 16 Cyclists gather, after 2 late cancellations, with 1 extra from the wait list, split into 3 groups, at 5 Min intervals, go via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Lion gate, Hampton Court Bridge, to East Molesey for refreshments at the always reliable Bell, with 1 special guest already waiting, then, Thames Ditton, Long Ditton, Surbiton, to Kingston. Total 8 Miles, 2 new Faces, special thanks to Jon & Ralph for group leadership, thanks to John E, Andrea & Steve F for back marking each group.

Wednesday 21st April, A bright Sunny day, with too much cloud in the afternoon, saw 16 Cyclists, split into 3 groups leave via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park (helped by a nice Tailwind), Hampton, Hanworth, Feltham, (group 2 took a slightly longer route, catching group 3, just as g3 had a visit from the ‘P fairy’, so g2 stayed ahead), Ashford, Staines upon Thames, Staines Bridge, Egham, Stroude, Thorpe Green, to Lyne for a Picnic lunch at ‘the Royal Marine’, Bretlands, Addlestone -alas the Wind was still mostly an Easterly, so now a Headwind-, Victory Park (alas group 1 Photo did not record properly ), Weybridge, Broadwater Path, to Walton Bridge for Tea & refreshment at Wilde Bunch, Walton on Thames, Molesey, Thames Ditton, Portsmouth Rd track to Kingston. After another long break, due to Covid a glorious Sunny Day saw 23 Cyclists, find 4 Leaders, so at 5 Minutes apart, via Portsmouth Rd Track, Long Ditton, Hinchley Wood, Claygate, Claremont -would the group leaders remember the clue-, Fairmile, Cobham, Hatchford, Ockham to West Horsley for a ‘Picnic Lunch’ at the ‘Barley Mow’, (as it was quite a struggle to find many Pubs doing Food just yet, after the latest Lockdown), Horsley Common (Photo), Effingham, Bookham, Fetcham & Pond (Photo’s Group’s 1, 2, 3 of course great minds think alike ), Ashtead, Epsom Common, Epsom, West Ewell, Stoneleigh, to Auriol Park for Tea & A Sumptuous Bread Pudding, Worcester park, New Malden, Berrylands to Kingston.
