Wednesday 21st June, on the longest day of 2023 (what you mean it’s downhill all the way to that ‘C’ word), with a glorious Sunny evening, 22, no wait, we have 2 more unannounced guests, 24 Cyclists- I think that’s a record for an Evening ride!-,left via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Fulwell, Twickenham, Junction Roughs path,Cole park, St Margarets, Richmond Bridge, to Richmond Hill for Refreshments at a very busy Roebuck & many chats with other groups from various Borough’s from South & West London, also watching the setting Sun, Richmond Park- with delightful views of Deer mingling with the various Cycle lights-, Kingston gate, Kingston Station Bridge to finish back in Kingston. Evening ride to Molesey

A bright sunny evening, with 1 late cancellation & 1 no show, but with 2 unexpected guests, 11 Cyclists left via Lower Marsh, to find the planned route closed, so a small detour to King Charles Bridge, Surbiton, Long Ditton, Hinchley wood, Littleworth Common, Esher, East Molesey to West Molesey for refreshments at the always delightful Bell (Greene King), a bit more East Molesey, Thames Ditton, Portsmouth Rd to finish back in Kingston. Total 13 Miles, 1 new face, thanks to Jon W for back marking.

Come ride with us! 2023-24 cycling calendar revealed

We believe bikes are perfect for exploring. So, on top of our cycle campaigning, we organise year-round rides for all ages and abilities that are always fun, and always free. From towpath trips to family-friendly outings, and evening explorations to adventures further afield, our new calendar of upcoming rides (Wednesdays and Sundays) is now out for the year ahead.

And on 4 June and 10 September this year we’re hosting our first family-friendly fun bike rides through the borough – shorter, easy-paced outings that take in a mix of quieter roads, bike lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs), to help encourage more Kingston residents of all ages to feel confident using their bikes for local journeys.

So, whatever your experience or energy levels, you’re sure to find the perfect ride with your name on it. Simply pop the dates in your diary, book your place via our website and join our friendly group.

Evening ride to Hampton

Wednesday 26th April, after 1 late cancellation, 7 Cyclists left via the Station Bridge, North Kingston, Ham, Teddington Footbridge, Teddington, Fulwell, Hampton hill- with a slight navigational hiccup-, to Hampton for refreshments at the almost hidden Railway Bell, a bit more Hampton, Bushy Park -No moonlight & barely any Deer, but some very bright Cycle lights-, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge to finish. Evening ride to Wimbledon

Wednesday 14th September. A light cloudy evening, with 1 no show, but 1 extra guest, made it a record for aan evening ride, 18 Cyclists leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, New Malden, Motspur park, Cannon Hill, Morden, South Wimbledon, to Wimbledon for refreshments at Wibbas down Inn (Wetherspoons), -with the leader needing to repair a loose connection for his lights-, Wimbledon Chase, Raynes park, the Beeline, New Malden, Norbiton, to finish back in Kingston. A pleasant balmy evening saw 16 Cyclists in 1 group leave via Skerne Rd, Latchmere, Ham gate Richmond Park to Petersham gate, Richmond Bridge, Ducks walk, Isleworth, Cole park, Railway path, to Twickenham for refreshment at the ‘Sussex Arms’, Fulwell, Bushy Park, -with some ‘residents on a Stag do’ (sorry Rob, I had to nick that one)-, Hampton Wick, Kingston Bridge to finish. Total 11 Miles, 1 new face, thanks to John E for back marking.

Evening ride to Ewell

Wednesday 20th July. With increasing clouds, would we stay dry? After 3 cancellations, but 1 unexpected visitor, 9 Cyclists left via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, New Malden, Malden Manor, Worcester park, Auriol Park, Nonsuch Park, Ewell village to the Wheatsheaf (a reliable friendly local) for refreshments- with 1 rather heavy shower in the interval-, West Ewell, Tolworth, Surbiton, to finish back in Kingston. Wednesday 22nd June. A lovely Sunny evening, after 2 late bookings & 1 extra unbooked guest, saw 12 Cyclists leave via Kingston Bridge, Bushy Park, Fulwell, Twickenham, Kneller Gardens, Twickenham Junction rough,, Cole Park, St Margarets -with a ‘dropped Tissue’ almost losing the tail end-, Richmond Bridge, to Richmond Hill for refreshments at ‘the Roebuck’ (somewhat ‘pedestrian service’), with the Sunset playing it’s part, Richmond Park, to Kingston Gate, to finish back in the Market place. A pleasant Evening, with our regular Leader away, ‘enjoying himself’ in Ireland, 9 Cyclists, left via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, Surbiton, Long Ditton, Hinchley wood, Littleworth Common, Esher, a brief visit to the River Mole towpath, to Molesey for refreshments at the delightful Bell, East Molesey, Thames Ditton, Portsmouth Rd to finish back in Kingston. Evening ride to Wimbledon

Wednesday 6th September. A warm Sultry evening saw 10 Cyclists, in 1 group leave via Lower Marsh, Berrylands, New Malden, Motspur park- with an inordinantly long wait at the Level crossing-, Cannon Hill, South Wimbledon to Wimbledon for refreshments at the Wibbas Down Inn (Wetherspoons), with Rain & Thunder forecast 1 member made an early departure, 2 others also headed in other directions, the main group, with steady rain soon turning to light Drizzle, continued via Wimbledon Chase, Raynes park, New Malden, Norbiton to finish back in Kingston. Total 14 Miles, thanks to Ellie for back marking.
